Richard Burns’s pre-Rally of Great Britain test came to an abrupt end on Saturday morning when he rolled his Impreza test car.
Neither Burns nor his passenger – girlfriend Zoe – was injured and a Subaru team spokesman played down the incident, pointing out that Burns had already completed two days of testing.
“As far as the team’s concerned, we’d much rather he did it on the test than the rally. It’s no problem,” the spokesman commented.
Burns lies third in the World Rally Championship going into the final round, which starts in Cardiff on November 22. He is three points behind leader Colin McRae and is aiming for an unprecedented fourth successive victory on his home event.
