Ferrari of Washington has entered a new Ferrari 360 GT in the 2002 Rolex 24 At Daytona. The Ferrari will make its first public appearance at the January Test Days this week. 1999 Rolex 24 GT winner Cort Wagner and 1999 Italian Touring Car champion Costantino Bertuzzi were named as drivers for the Test Days. The 2002 Rolex 24 will mark the 35th anniversary of Ferrari sweeping the overall podium at the classic endurance race.
Engineering students from Southampton University in the UK will travel to Daytona Beach to assist the British-based Brookspeed team with its Viper at the Rolex 24. The University of Southampton is highly regarded within the motorsports industry and consistently produces graduates who go on to work for top motorsports teams, including Jaguar, Jordan, Arrows and McLaren's Formula One teams. Four to six fourth-year mechanical engineering students, both male and female, are expected to assist as crewmembers with the team.
Carsport Holland has announced its driver line-up for the Rolex 24. Team regular Mike Hezemans will be joined by Belgian Anthony Kumpen in a heavily revised Dodge Viper GTS-R. Other drivers with the team include Italians Luca Cappellari and Fabrizio De Simone.
