WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Pirelli has won the tender to be the official tyre supplier to the 2008, 2009 and 2010 FIA World Rally Championships. It will now enter into a formal contract to supply tyres in all events of the Championship to all competitors with a four-wheel drive rally car (as defined in the International Sporting Code)

Dit is de 3de keer Michelin afgestraft wordt door FIA :( Eerst in WTCC, dan F1, nu WRC.

In Belgie heeft Michelin anders wel de alleenrechten in Belcar & Btcs verworven... dat heeft toch ook geld gekost zou ik zo denken...

Zouden ze dat helemaal alleen gedaan hebben ;) Misschien hebben er wel 2 andere bedrijven een handje toegestoken.
En de contracten van BTCS & Belcar zou ik nu ook direct niet gaan vergelijken met WTCC - FIA GT of WRC hoor :)

Dunlop Motorsport heeft zich allesinds vandaag ook teruggetrokken uit de FIA GT. Zo zie je maar dat zogezegde kleine deals ( Belcar en BTCS ) wel degelijk tot in UK zijn geraakt.

De teams uit de BEC - Sprint en Historics zullen er goed bij varen, daar zal Dunlop Motorsport wel present blijven als leverancier.

Michelin critical of FIA decision

Michelin's motorsport director Frederic Henry-Biabaud was critical of the FIA's decision, claiming the governing body had chosen Pirelli based on reasons unrelated to the sport.

Michelin gaat zelfs anar de rechtbank:

French tyre manufacturer Michelin has initiated legal proceedings against motorsport's governing body, the FIA, the company announced on Monday.

The French company has made the decision after the FIA chose rivals Pirelli to be the sole supplier to the World Rally Championship from 2008.

Michelin is carrying out legal action because it believes there were "irregularities in the tender process".
