The Australian Grand Prix started the 2002 F1 season today with just 11 teams taking part in the weekend's events, however according to reports there could be 12 teams taking part this season and the twelfth could be joining soon. This is because the liquidated Prost Grand Prix team has been bought by as yet unknown buyers after the administrators in France accepted an offer for the team's assets. Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw admitted recently that the team had been bought last week Thursday, and that his company TWR would be providing engineering support to the team when they decide to make their way to the grid. However while he denied that he was one of the buyers of Prost GP he also would not say who had bought the team.
Although pressed to give a name Walkinshaw said that it was not his place to say who the new owners of the team were, but that they would be making an announcement when they are ready. As for TWR's role in the team, that will be to support the team with engineering back-up to get it up and running.
