pressrelease team Astromega:
TEAM ASTROMEGA UNDERLINES COMMITMENT TO FIA F3000 SERIES
Contrary to rumours that have circulated recently in the motorsport press and on the internet, Team Astromega is pleased to confirm thar it will run two cars in next year’s FIA Formula 3000 Championship.
Australian Rob Nguyen will continue with the team for a second season. Despite limited previous single-seater experience, the 21-year-old showed great promise in 2002 and scored a top-five finish in only his sixth race.
A number of drivers are in the frame for the team’s second seat and several candidates will be evaluated during forthcoming tests at Imola and Misano.
Team Principal Mikke Van Hool says: ”There has been a lot of speculation about what Astromega will do next season, but some remarks I made appear to have been taken out of context. It was always our intention to continue in the FIA F3000 series. I can confirm that we are also looking at other projects, but these will complement our F3000 activities and certainly won’t replace them.”
