The race calendar 2003 – V8STAR goes oval
04.12.02

In 2003, the motorsport fans will once again find all they want in the V8STAR race series. The race calendar includes nine rounds, two of them to take place at the tri-oval of the EuroSpeedway Lausitz – a premiere for a German race series.

With one exception, the race events of the V8STAR are taking place on Saturday (free practice, timed practice, top 12 qualifying) and Sunday (race). Six events of the 2003 race calendar have been co-ordinated with the BERU Top 10. A final contractual agreement has yet to be made. The start of the season is May 3 and 4 at the Motopark Oschersleben. One of the pinnacles surely will be the debut race of a German series on the oval. This will happen July 5 and 6. The V8STAR’s first high-speed-oval spectacle has been made possible courtesy of a co-operation between the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, ADAC, the organising ADAC Würzburg and the V8STAR together with its partners, first and foremost Goodyear. The Americans are bringing their rich 34 year’s experience in oval racing into the planning and the implementation.

Another top-event will be the V8STAR race at the occasion of the ADAC-Truck-Grand-Prix at the Nürburgring. The ADAC-Truck-Grand-Prix, organised by the ADAC Mittelrhein, is one of the motorsport highlights in Europe. Next to Formula 1, the ADAC-Truck-Grand-Prix arguably is one of the most spectacular event platforms. At this giant get-together of big trucks in front of an impressive crowd in the Eifel, there is action not just on the circuit, but also in the paddock and in the infield of the complex. Although there will not yet be a separate Dutch V8STAR race series in 2003, the V8STAR will be racing at Zandvoort on two occasions. There will be a race mid-May and a second appearance early June at the Pinksterraces. The Pinksterraces are one of three Dutch touring car highlights. A special thing: the V8STAR will be having its practice sessions on Whit-Saturday and its race on Whit-Monday, while the V8STAR engines remain silent on the Sunday. Another highlight will be the season final at the highspeed-oval of the EuroSpeedway Lausitz, September 27 and 28.

Negotiations are ongoing with several television stations, including the third programmes of the German public channels and the Deutsches SportFernsehen (DSF). A tape-delayed broadcast at prime time is being envisaged. More information will be following shortly.
