17 Hours At Enna
It is a rare occurrence that a 24 hour race escapes the attention of the dailysportscar staff, but this one nearly did. We blame it on the weather, though.

The first 24 hour enduro on European soil was held on March 15 / 16 at Enna-Pergusa in Sicily. And for the first time in the history of the circuit (and probably of Sicily itself), a race had to be redflagged because of heavy rain, snow, and fog. The decidedly un-Sicilian weather brought the spectator count down, and the atrition rate up - among many others, the pole-sitting Duller Motorsport BMW M3 of Dieter Quester and Vincent Vosse fell by the wayside.

Another M3 weathered the storm: Britons Howard Redhouse and Harry Handkammer, with partners Vincent Vosse (on double duty) and Alexander Quester survived whatever nature threw at them, and found themselves at the head of the standings when the organisers called it a race in the 17th hour. Their car was one of the trusty E36 chassis that did so well at last year's Bathurst 24 Hours.
