Doran Dallara heads to Europe
States based Doran racing will bring their brand new Lista sponsored Dallara over to Europe in 2002 to race in the FIA Sportscar Championship.
The team which is owned by longtime championship supporter, Fredy Lienhard will compete at the Nurburgring in September and possibly two other races, including the Spa date which takes place just a week after the 'Ring' event.
The team that is run by Kevin Doran currently race in the Grand Am championship but also want to compete against Europes finest next year.Team drivers Lienhard himslef and experienced Belgian -Didier Theys are likely to team up for the German race but Fredy has hinted that they are looking for a team mate to partner Didier at his home track of Spa.
Theys, who raced for the Champion Audi squad at Le Mans with Johnny Herbert last year was a regular in Europe driving for the Horag Lista Ferrari team, with Fredy in 1998 and 99. The Belgian also finished third for the works Joest Audin team at La Sarthe in 1999.
The Dallara chassis has been mated to a Judd V10 engine for the first time and made its racing debut at Daytona last week where Lienhard and Theys were satisfied with the performance of the car and engine during the three hour race.
