Mosport was planned in 1958 by the British Empire Motor Club and when finished in 1961 was 2.459 miles or 3,957 km long. Just about all major North American series raced at Mosport ... from Can-Am in 1966 to ALMS at present. In 1967 Mosport celebrated Canada’s Centennial by hosting 2 world championship events, the Canadian Motorcycle GP, and The inaugural Canadian GP F1. Gilles Villeneuve made his debut with Ferrari at Mosport in 1977. |
