650. Carlsbad Raceway (Carlsbad, CA)

Eventjes verder in Engels ...

Carlsbad Raceway consisted of a 2,95 km circuit, a 1/4 mile Drag Strip, a MX-track and a 1/8 mile 'Dirt' oval.
The circuit made use of the Drag Strip and his return road. Due to safety and configuration issues this circuit was not used very long.
The Drag Strip was actif from 1964 till 2004.
The oval was in operation from 1985 till 1994.

The whole site was destroyed for a business park and road building.

We hereby gratefully thank the people who keep the memory of Carlsbad Raceway alive for giving us permission to use their pictures !

De eerste races vonden plaats in 1965 op een 'Clay' oval, rond een bestaand football-veld.

Tot vorig jaar (2006) gekend als "Route 66 Speedway".
Het nieuwe management besloot de oval op te knappen en terug te keren naar de oude benaming.

654. Santa Maria Speedway (Nipomo, CA)

Deze 'Clay' oval is sinds 1964 operationeel, zonder tussenpauze.
Na de dood van promotor/eigenaar Doug Fort in 1999, werd het beheer overgenomen door zijn echtgenote Nettie.

655. Silver Dollar Speedway (Chico, CA)

Deze 1/4 mile 'Clay' oval werd gebouwd in 1962 op een site waar tussen 1948 en 1950 een 1/2 mile oval gelegen was.
Mogelijks is op de foto de ligging van de originele oval nog te zien.

Deze 'Clay' oval was tot enige tijd geleden ook bekend als "Watsonville Speedway" maar blijkt ergens van naam veranderd te zijn ...
