Major upset in Brazil: the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix that was supposed to take place on 24 October 2004 at Interlagos has been cancelled following a court decision of Judge Joao Andre de Vincenzo. The Judge confirmed the city of Sao Paulo's argument that the race is harmful for its budget.

Judge Vincenzo decided to suspend the contract between the prefecture and the Grand Prix promoters and put a 50000 Brazilian Reals (around 15000 Euros) daily penalty in case the promoters decide not the follow the court ruling. The penalty will be effective 30 days after the official publication of the ruling.

It is clear that financial problems are becoming more and more frequent among Grand Prix organisations. Brazil is not the only one since we know that the Grands Prix in Canada, France and Belgium (and probably others) are also experiencing the same kind of trouble.

Het gaat hier over Interlagos he.
Ze kunnen nog altijd terug naar Rio de Janeiro.

De waarschijnlijke opvolger van Interlagos heeft vele namen.........

- Jacarepaguá
- Rio de Janeiro
- Circuit Nelson Piquet

De CART series reden daar enkele jaren terug, wel op het oval-gedeelte.

F1 heeft daar ook weleens gereden...........
