Het begon vanochtend al slecht voor de meeste teams en de GP2.

The long-awaited debut of the GP2 Series turned into an anti-climax for many of the teams and drivers as a problem with a newly-installed component in the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) units that govern the cars caused 16 of the 24 drivers to encounter problems in the opening practice session at Imola.
Team bosses have directed the problem to a new fuse system introduced during the final pre-season test at Barcelona last month, and series organisers are thought to be planning to bring back the old systems in order to improve reliability.
Finland's Heikki Kovalainen, winner of the Race of Champions at the Stade de France in Paris late last year, set the pace with a lap of 1:35.344 to beat Japanese driver Hiroshi Yoshimoto (BCN) into second by 0.188 seconds.
Britain's Adam Carroll (Super Nova) was an impressive third given that he only signed to the team last week, with Ernesto Viso confirming his strong pre-season pace in fourth and Gianmaria Bruni fifth for Coloni.
The rest of the field were well adrift of the top five as electronic problems plagued their running, and with the majority of the field failing to get into double figures in terms of laps completed, it looks doubtful that many of the teams will be able to complete Saturday's 37-lap feature race.
