Toyota's Mika Salo remains optimistic about his team's progress despite ending his first day of testing at Barcelona at the bottom of the timing sheets.
"We are quite a way behind at the moment and we are trying to catch up," Salo said. "But the problem is that everyone else is moving forwards as well so we need to take twice as many steps to catch up. We have a big enough company and lots of talented people so I'm sure we can do it."
Toyota's progress has been thwarted to some extent by the changeable weather conditions at Barcelona this week, and Thursday morning's damp track did little to impress Salo.
"If someone could make an indoor track where its always warm and dry, then it would be perfect," Salo said. "It's the right decision to come to Barcelona, but the weather makes it very hard for us because all the other teams have information already, and we have nothing."

2 interviews mee Salo op dezelfden dag, juist het tegengestelde resultaat. Of hoe journalisten in komkommertijd toch maar iets verzinnen om te kunnen vertellen op hun site.
