Barrichello blijft in koude staan bij Ferrari !
Ferrari's Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello believes he could become a regular winner on the Formula One circuit if his team were to give him the same attention it does to his team-mate and reigning world champion Michael Schumacher.
Just a day after Ferrari had to deny they wanted to recruit Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya for the 2003 season Barrichello left no doubt that he feels he is the poor relation of the team for whom Schumacher has won two world titles after a drought of 21 years for the Italian stable.
Speaking to journalists at the traditional Ferrari pre-season ski meeting in the Dolomite mountains 29-year-old Barrichello said: "Here at Ferrari everything is organised around Michael - he has 70 percent of the attention, me 30 percent. But we have two different styles of driving.
"I am convinced that if I had the same attention I could win as well." Hinting that his days at the Maranello-based stable could be numbered he continued: "I know that today I must do well if I am to have options in the future."
Barrichello admitted 2001 had been a disappointing campaign personally and said: "With a bit more attention I know what could have been. With a bit of luck I could have won three to four races and I will go into 2002 with that same attitude. If I thought I was incapable of winning I would stop driving."
Barrichello admitted he felt a better person since the birth of his baby son Edoardo and hopes that he can improve on his mental performance.
"I have learnt a lot (at Ferrari)," he said. "Now I know that if I want to improve then it's not a question of arms and legs. It is a question of mind. Jackie Stewart said that to me years ago and now I understand what he meant."
