Reports on auto-motor-und-sport.de suggested that Skoda would definitely not have a manufacturer presence next year in the WRC. However, a Red Bull backed team, led by Armin Schwarz and Raimund Baumschlager would take part, using the Fabia WRCs and taking in ten of the 16 rounds.

A spokesperson for the Czech manufacturer told Crash.net though that the report was premature.

"Rumours are all around," he added, "but all options remain open as negotiations on 2006 go on."
