The first day of testing for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro with the F2002 today saw reigning world champion, Michael Schumacher driving the new Ferrari F1 challenger at its debut, doing the first lap at 9.50 am this morning. Throughout the course of the day, Schumacher began working on the development of the F2002, finishing the session at 5.40pm.
After completing a total of 67 laps, the fastest being a 58.620, Michael established a new record at the Fiorano track, a very promising sign for their new 2002 challenger.
"The new car's debut today was very promising," said Michael Schumacher. "I had a good feeling from the first moment I was driving the F2002."
The Scuderia will be testing on two tracks tomorrow. While Schumacher continues with the development of the F2002 at Fiorano, teammate Rubens Barrichello will drive the F2001 at the Mugello circuit.
