Mohammed Bin Sulayem won the Qatar International Rally, opening round of the Middle East Championship this weekend in his quest for a fourteenth title. Driving a Ford Focus WRC he was pushed hard over the early stages by Abdullah Bakhashab and Hamad Al-Sowaidi.

Bakhashab's Toyota Corolla developed clutch problems which eventually stopped the car, while Hamad Al-Sowaidi brought his Subaru Impreza home second, six minutes behind the winner.

Abdullah Al Qassimi took third in Bin Sulayems 2000 Focus WRC, while Group N Mitsubishis filled the remaining top six places.
