Om zich niet te vervelen heeft Rossi afgelopen vrijdag dan maar wat rondjes gereden in een Maserati MC12 van Racing Box op het circuit van Misano. Na 13 rondjes reed Rossi vergelijkbare tijden de andere aanwezige coureurs zoals Marco Cioci en Fabrizio De Simone.
Deze test was overigens een kadootje van zijn schoonpa, Gabriele Matteuzzi. Een van de gentleman-coureurs in 2005 van Racing Box. Dochter Arianna Matteuzzi is de huidige vriendin van Rossi
