Kolles says Spyker in good shape
By Jonathan Noble Friday, June 1st 2007, 15:52 GMT
Spyker team principal Colin Kolles has insisted that his Formula One outfit's future is secure, despite troubles for their parent road car company.
The Dutch sportscar maker saw its shares drop last week when it was revealed that it offered its brand name to secure a bank loan. This comes on the back of former CEO Victor Muller leaving his position earlier this month.
And with this week's Autosport revealing that some of the team's sponsors have not kept up to date with payments, including those who are funding driver Christijan Albers' seat, there have been rumours about the team's future.
But Kolles is certain that the team are in good shape.
"The Formula One team's security is not based on the profits, losses or financial security of Spyker Cars NV in any way," said Kolles.
"Spyker Formula One is financed through its own consortium of investors, partners and suppliers and we are not reliant on input from the road car division.
"We have the full support of Spyker Cars and likewise we take a more than active interest in their success, but observers should not be predicting the fall of the F1 team any time soon.
"We have set goals and objectives and we will not be happy until we achieve them."

Euhm... Kolles mist hier wel een belangrijk punt: wat heeft een F1 team zin als de autobouwer zelf overkop gaat?
