Minardi withdraw from Spanish GP !!!
Due to persistent wing failures on the PS02, the KL Minardi Asiatech team has announced that they are withdrawing both cars from this afternoon's Spanish Grand Prix. Mark Webber's front wing failed in Saturday's practice followed by a similar failure on teammate Alex Yoong's car in qualifying. The team worked through the night to repair the problem but it appears as if all their efforts were in vain.
In the final minutes of this morning's traditional thirty-minute warm- up session, Mark Webber encountered further problems, this time with the rear wing, as he was travelling down pit straight.
After a technical analysis of the component revealed a stress fracture had caused the failure and in the interests of safety, both Webber and Alex Yoong will not start with team boss Paul Stoddart making the announcement at 11 am local time.
