Ik wil hier ook nog eventjes de reactie van Irvine op het gebeuren toevoegen, dat is toch iemand die weet waarover hij praat.

Jaguar-Racing’s Eddie Irvine has said Michael Schumacher must remain blameless for his part in the team order display in Austria.

Irvine, who competed for Ferrari and drove alongside Schumacher between 1996 and 1999, said the German was in a difficult situation in that as an employee of Ferrari, he had to obey Ferrari’s instructions or face hefty consequences.

‘Michael is blameless, because his hands are tied just as much as Rubens' are,’ Irvine said in his column for “The Sun” tabloid today.

Irvine said he understood the difficult situation the Ferrari drivers were in on Sunday

‘Forget the millions that he is paid, the wins he has delivered - or his status within the team. He is just another employee who has to do as he is told. If he had gone against the team's wishes that would have been anarchy - and Schumacher is a true professional and team player.’

Like Barrichello, Irvine had to play number two to Schumacher during his time with the marque and did as he was told by team officials.

‘I drove alongside Michael for four years and never disobeyed an instruction,’ he said.

‘If I had ignored their pleas to move over for Michael in the 1999 French Grand Prix so he could gain an extra point I would have been sacked.’
