Jarno Trulli has been allowed to keep his fourth place in Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.
The Renault driver’s three points were in doubt after it was discovered that a seal was missing from his Renault R202’s electronics control unit.
But following a thorough inspection of the black box at Renault’s Oxfordshire base, FIA officials were satisfied the team had done nothing wrong and the result has been allowed to stand.
An FIA statement said the electronics unit "was found to be in conformity with the requirements of the F1 technical regulations."
The ruling does not follow the precedent set by a similar incident involving Mika Hakkinen in 2000. On that occasion, the Finn was allowed to keep his drivers’ championship points but McLaren were stripped of their constructors’ points.
