Het Jaguar F1 team zou komende week haar tenten opslaan in het Belgische Lommel. Op de testbaan van Ford in Lommel zou Jaguar haar vernieuwde R3 wagen aan een uitgebreide aërodynamica test willen onderwerpen.
Jaguar wil haar grondig aangepaste R3 wagen eerst nog even in het geheim testen alvorens de concurrentie tegemoet te treden. De keuze voor de Ford testbaan in het Belgische Lommel mag dan ook niemand verbazen. “Lommel Prooving Ground” (LPG) zoals de baan heet is omgeven door bossen en biedt daardoor een goede bescherming tegen pottenkijkers.
De test met de nieuwe R3 zou uitgevoerd worden door testrijder André Lotterer. Als de resultaten meevallen zou de nieuwe R3 later die week nog naar Barcelona gaan voor verdere tests.
