Asiatech closes its doors

F1 dream is over for Asiatech

Minardi's 2002 F1 engine supplier, Asiatech has closed down its factory in Velizy, near Paris, and laid off its 200 staff. A statement said: "Because of a lack of funds guaranteed for the continuation of its activity, Asia Motor Technologies France ceased its operations on October 31, 2002." The 2002 season was the second for the Asian-owned consortium after it entered F1 by purchasing the former Peugeot Sport hardware and development facilities.
