Hyundai driver Freddy Loix is well on the way back to full fitness after an operation to remove pins from his left ankle.
The pins were inserted after the 32-year-old Belgian's heavy Monte Carlo Rally crash at the beginning of the year, but the WRC's relentless schedule meant that there has been no chance for them to be removed until now.
Loix is already back on his feet and walking after the operation, though he has yet to get behind the wheel again. He will certainly be ready by the start if the 2003 season – back in Monte Carlo on January 22-26.
