In the GTS the picture is perhaps a little more interesting. It has been dominated by the 550 Ferraris of Prodrive and Alphand and then laterly by the Labre viper which ended the session in third place. You may ask where are the Corvettes, the #50 car is only 5th and the #53 car 7th behind the Konrad Saleen. Indications are that the new Corvettes are proving quick in the straights but are struggling in the corners. They are also trying very hard to respect the white line rules, these lines having appeared on some of the corners. Ollie Gavin reckoned this was costing them perhaps four seconds a lap, viewers from the track side indicate that the Corvettes are being more respectful than most of these lines. It was interesting that one of the prototype drivers said it was impossible to see some of the lines on some of the corners particularly where there is a brow.
The Pagani looks very pretty and is just eleven seconds off the class place which is encouraging for this small team at such an early stage. The engine note is quite delightful.
