Ken Tyrrell, the former chief of British Formula One
team Tyrrell and the man who discovered Scottish racing legend Jackie Stewart, has died on Saturday morning, his family have announced.

Tyrrell died from illness in the early hours of Saturday morning, a spokesman for the family said from the family home in Surrey. He was 77.

Jackie Stewart, the former triple world champion, said he was "deeply saddened" by the death of the man considered a legend in Formula One circles.

Tyrrell helped to discover a number of British and foreign racing talents throughout his distinguished career.
