In a horrifying accident, even by auto-racing standards, two-time CART champion Alex Zanardi lost both of his legs following a crash Saturday during the American Memorial 500 in Klettwitz, Germany. Zanardi, sliding after coming out of the pits, was hit by a car traveling at speeds close to 200 mph. Zanardi is now listed in stable condition at a Berlin hospital.
