Bas Leinders has made an inauspicious start to his F1 career.
A few corners into his maiden F1 lap the Belgian lost control of his Jordan-Ford EJ13 and hit the barriers ripping off a wheel. It's understood that the accident happened because he pushed too hard without having worked some heat into his tyres.
Red-faced, the twenty-eight-year-old returned to the Jordan garage to face the music.
It's not understood how much damage was done and whether Leinders will be able to continue this afternoon.
On Tuesday, Jordan's other F1 test debutante Timo Glock had an off, though thankfully little damage was incurred.
