Irc 2011
De Geko Ypres Rally en Eurosport Events, de promotor van de Intercontinental Rally Challenge, delen mee dat ze een nieuw contract afgesloten hebben waardoor de Geko Ypres Rally voor nog minstens drie jaar verder deel zal uitmaken van het IRC.

Proton rijdt het ganse IRC kampioenschap met 2 wagens. Voor de Monte Carlo zitten PG Andersson en Chris Atkinson achter het stuur van een Satria Neo S2000.

Peugeot France komt met een sterk trio rijders naar de Monte Carlo: Petter Solberg, Bryan Bouffier en Stéphane Sarrazin. De wagen is natuurlijk de 207 Super 2000. Verder zien we ook nog met een Peugeot, Guy Wilks (Peugeot UK), Bruno Magalhaes (Peugeot Portugal) en natuurlijk Thierry Neuville (Peugeot Belgie)

En nu komt ook Kubica (Renault Clio S1600) naar de Monte Carlo. Zien verder ook ex F1 piloot Alex Caffi (Skoda)

Had het hele IRC-kampioenschap maar zo'n deelnemersveld... 15 topwagens is spektakel verzekerd!

François Delecour staat ook op de startlijst van Monte Carlo met een 207 S2000! En, heel apart, Daniel Elena met een C2!

Neuville heeft al opgegeven op de eerste dag in de Monte Carlo, geen remmen, uit de baan.

Prachtige tweede plaats voor Loix in de Monte Carlo na Bouffier (Peugeot).
Het is nog maar de eerste koers van het jaar en de teamorders zijn al daar. Sarrazin (Peugeot) punt met opzet te laat om Wilks voor te laten. Wilks gaat voor het kampioenschap, Sarrazin is maar een gelegenheidsrijder. Moet men in Rallye nu teamorders eindelijk eens gaan verbieden?

Na Todt met zijn muntstuk in de Dakar, blijft Peugeot het resultaat manipuleren

"It was my decision," said Quesnel. "It makes sense when Guy Wilks is doing all of the championship."

Wilks said he had not talked to the team about the decision and added that it was not the way he wanted to score his first podium for the Peugeot team.

Neen en wijs er alleen op dat na de storm dat dit incident veroorzaakte de mentaliteit van de teammanagers nog steeds niets veranderd is (zie ook Ferrari); niemand is er mee gediend, nog de rijders nog het publiek alleen de PR mensen.

Freddy Loix doet nog zes manches van het IRC dit jaar, zijnde de Canary Islands Rally, Tour de Corse, Ieper, Madera, Barum Rally en Sanremo. Vermits de zeven beste uitslagen meetellen voor de titel heeft hij al zeker geen mogelijkheid op een schrapresultaat.

Klopt, maar indien nodig voor de titel zou er budget zijn voor 1 of 2 extra manches.

Thierry Neuville (Peugeot) wint de rallye van Corsica en Loix eindigt derde en neemt de leiding in het kampioenschap! Wat een topdag voor de Belgische autosport ( bovendien wint Martin in GT1 en WRT in Frans GT)
