Jaguar signs Agathangelou

Jaguar Racing has bolstered its technical ranks with the signing of Briton Ben Agathangelou to head the aerodynamics department.
Agathangelou, 30, has been wooed from Renault to help improve the aero package on the troublesome R3 and will oversee the work of Chief Aerodynamicist Mark Handford and Chief Designer John Russell. He will join the squad on May 1.
‘Ben will bring a new and experienced technical dimension to this team,’ said interim Technical Director Guenther Steiner.
‘We have never really lacked in any other aspect of our racing package apart from aerodynamic efficiency and combined with our new windtunnel, we can now set clearly defined goals which will allow us to compete on an even playing field with our competitors in Formula One.

‘Ben’s appointment is the latest step in our ongoing efforts to build a solid technical base that will better prepare Jaguar Racing for the long-term challenges that lie ahead.’
Agathangelou is an experienced campaigner having worked for McLaren, Tyrrell, Honda and Benetton/Renault. He has a first class honours degree in aeronautical engineering and is a specialist in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), which Jaguar recently began to use as part of the aerodynamics solution programme.
Steiner made it clear that Agathangelou was not the last talent to be signed however.
‘Our efforts at recruiting the best personnel do not stop here and we look forward to announcing some more additions to our team in the very near future,’ added the German.
Jaguar’s new windtunnel at Bicester, UK, will be operational from next week.
