Nou, was wel een redelijk leuke race
Eerste 2-3 bochten zij aan zij gereden met stefan omdat ik beter weg kwam met mijn fer. Dan wou hij mij in ronde 2 T1 al direct inhalen (vanuit de slipstream), maar hij vloog er af (bwaha  ) daarna nog een paar keer gehad dat ie terug kwam en een foutje maakte. Ben iig zeer blij dat ik hem achter mij heb gehouden, want na de kwali dacht ik dat het een stefan-one-man-show ging worden Volgende keer weer zo'n race

Hehe, een goed resultaat en al bij al een redelijk mooie race voor mij, al heb ik naast de achterliggers haast nooit iemand gezien en geen enkel rechtstreeks duel uitgevochten.
Ik moet toegeven dat ik nogal nerveus was bij de start van dit nieuwe seizoen in een wagen die ik nog niet zo goed beheers en die me vooral tijdens de eerste ronden wat angst inboezemt (de Brabham heeft zoveel koppel dat je heel omzichtig met het gaspedaal moet omgaan, zeker op koude banden. Compleet tegenovergesteld met de BRM waarmee ik vroeger reed). Ik had de voorbije dagen toch wat geoefend en me alweer voorgenomen constant trachten te rijden eerder dan zo snel mogelijk te willen gaan, wat bij mij vroeg of laat automatisch in een schuiver of erger eindigt. Er waren wel enkele afmeldingen te betreuren, waaronder die van Sennake, Snokke en ook Dennis, die zijn verjaardag vierde en dus niet in staat werd geacht om een bolide met ongeveer 500 pk op de baan te houden. Het was al een eeuwigheid geleden dat ik nog een echte on line race had gereden, maar zodra ik in de pits stond, kreeg ik weer een gevoel van herkenning en lichte euforie. M’n trainingsronden waren over het algemeen slecht, met heel wat uitstapjes in het gras. Uit de paar min of meer goede ronden puurde ik dan toch een 1.22.88, wat ik niet slecht vond. Toen de trainingen voorbij waren, zag ik dat ik exact dezelfde tijd gereden had als Krikke (achteraf bleek dat hij net 4 duizendsten sneller was, maar dat registreert GPL niet). Het verraste me ook vast te stellen dat uitgezonderd ikzelf, iedereen met Ferrari’s of Eagles reed. Een 12-cilinderliga als het ware. Bij de start kon ik een Ferrari verschalken (Krikke ?), maar doordat ik op eieren reed tijdens de eerste ronde kon hij me makkelijk weer voorbij in de 1ste bocht. In de 2de ronde kon ik twee plaatsen opschuiven omdat er twee voor mij in de fout gingen. De leider was echter allang verdwenen en ik besloot gewoon m’n eigen ritme te rijden. Bij het begin van de derde ronde wordt ik geramd door een Eagle (Siggy vermoed ik), maar gelukkig bleef het bij een kleine spin en had mijn Brabham nauwelijks schade. Voor de rest heb ik vrij rustig m’n rondjes gereden en duelleerde ik vanop afstand met Krikke en BJ, met telkens een gat van 6 à 7 seconden. Heb tijdens de race nog wel eens tegen een vangrail gereden en ben ook eenmaal het decor ingegaan bij de eerste bocht, maar al bij al zonder grote gevolgen. Geen enkele maal shift-r moeten doen en daar ben ik wel behoorlijk trots op. Naar het einde toe werd ik wel nerveuzer toen ik besefte dat de 3de plaats steeds dichter kwam, maar kon eigenlijk de dreiging die van Krikke uitging zonder al te veel moeite het hoofd bieden. Volgende race is dus Le Mans, een wel heel snel circuit, zonder alle chicanes die er in de jaren ’70 en ’90 bijkwamen. Niet zo geschikt voor de Brabham-Repco, maar ik zal gewoon dezelfde tactiek toepassen als gisterenavond en hopen dat het opnieuw werkt. Het eindresultaat is onder voorbehoud, want blijkbaar reed BJ de race gewoon uit, maar heeft GPL dat niet geregistreerd (misschien zijn er zo nog anderen ?). Ik zal zo spoedig mogelijk de replay bekijken en als anderen een idee hebben op welke plaats ze echt zijn geëindigd, mogen ze dat uiteraard melden. De eerste vier zijn wel zeker.

Vraagske ?
Als jullie nog zo eens organiseren, kan ik ook zo eens een raceke meedoen? Al bij al lijkt dit me een toffe boel. Dan moeten jullie me wel doorgeven wat ik moet installeren van software en welke functies waar liggen. Een ander probleem is dat ik dus geen joystick heb en dus enkel met pijlkes kan sturen. Zou dit lukken?  Laat het maar horen he, slechter dan Yoong zal ik toch niet zijn zeker?

Het was een tof gevoel om weer eens online te vlammen met die sigaren van 67. De start was (traditioneel) weer een knoeiboel bij mij, en ik zag de Mario met een rotvaart langskomen. ik had wél zware binnenpretjes toen ik hem zo goed als onmiddellijk terug voorbij ging. Vol overmoed begon ik mijn ferrari de teugels te geven, en ik stond versteld hoe goed het beest op de baan bleef...,Ik had er enkel tijdens de qual effe de baan mee opgeweest met de 25 ronden benzine aan boord. Alles ging tamelijk goed, alhoewel de Mario het ritme een beetje te goe kon volgen, naar mijn goesting. Ik reed (naar mijn kunnen) echt op de limiet, en bij een simpel remmaneuver aan de trage linkse (hij zal wel een naam hebben zeker...) ging de voorkant ineens vol naar links de rail in. Gevloek alom, mijn familie die verschrikt uit de zetels veren, en een shift-R die niet onmiddellijk kon uitgevoerd worden doordat het verkeer eerst voorbij moest. Vollebak terug de pedaal ingeduwd om terug de mario proberen bij te benen. Dit ging echter héél moeizaam, zo moeizaam dat mijn rechtervoet op hol sloeg, en ik nog enkele keren enthousiast van de baan ging, en 1 keer vol een in het midden van de baan geparkeerde Ferrari ramde. Op dat moment hoorde ik een stem zeggen, rij rustig uit, dit zal al een hele prestatie zijn. En dat was het ook! 4° plaats, in een Ferrari met een setup van de Wolfgang Woeger. Positief is dat de Ferrari heel "forgiven" is, en een keimooi dashboard heeft. Het geluid is dan weer het tegenovergestelde, maar daar is misschien nog iets aan te doen, lol. Op naar Lemans. Mario, ik zal daar alvast m'n best doen om eens te komen roeren in je versnellingsbak. Be prepared for some close racing...
Ps: misschien nog even zeggen dat er héél fair geraced werd. De gedubbelden reden soms zelfs de baan af om je voorbij te laten. Van gemanierde piloten gesproken... Last edited by krikke; 19-09-2002 at 21:41.
