Testing ahead of Austrian GP !

Formula 1 testing kicked off with a bang this morning (Tuesday) as Ferrari's test driver Luciano Burti crashed at Monza in Italy.

The Brazilian, who suffered a number of big crashes when he raced for Prost last year, was driving an F2001 chassis when he ran wide and crashed into the barriers on his 19th lap. The team described the shunt as a "minor incident".

His fellow test driver Luca Badoer is also in action today at the team's Fiorano test track in a 2002 car, while Rubens Barrichello will run at Mugello on Thursday and Friday. Spanish GP winner Michael Schumacher has the week off, but will play in a football match on Friday.

Valencia hosts the biggest test of the week with Williams-BMW, Renault, Jaguar, McLaren and Sauber all in action. Minardi could join them as it now knows the cause of its Spanish Grand Prix wing failures.

Estoril in Portugal will host Toyota and the Honda-powered British American Racing team. Arrows, buoyed by its points finish at Barcelona, will test at Silverstone. Jordan will concentrate on straightline running at Elvington Airfield.
