Omwille van de goede prestaties in de GP van Frankrijk van supertalent Alex Yoong, hier even een kleine vergelijking tussen hem en zijn teammaat bij Minardi:

Dat maakt de kwalificatieduels Mark Webber: 11 - Alex Yoong: 0
Gelieve daarbij nog de race-ervaring van beide heren te noteren. Alex Yoong reed namelijk reeds in seizoen 2001 enkele Grand Prix's mee, nadat supertalent Marques een schop onder z'n derrière had gekregen. Hier volgt zijn prestatie tegen Fernando Alonso:

1) Monza 2001:
Alex Yoong: 1'27"463
Fernando Alonso: 1'26"218

2) Indianapolis 2001:
Alex Yoong: 1'15"247
Fernando Alonso: 1'13"991

3) Suzuka 2001:
Alex Yoong: 1'38"246
Fernando Alonso: 1'36"410

Conclusie's: Yoong breekt evenveel potten als ons aller vriend Ricardo Rosset destijds bij Arrows en Tyrrell. Momenteel starten we al met 19 wagens, waarvan er eentje standvast altijd als laatste weet te vertrekken en onzichtbaar de hoop vergroot. In een Minardi kàn je hoedanook opvallen, Webber schittert, Alonso was perfect, Gené heeft er een mooi testcontract bij Williams met verdiend, Trulli en Fisichella zijn er hun carrière begonnen.
Klasseer deze Yoong echter maar snel bij Rosset, Nakano, Takagi, Marques....

Maar het verschil tussen Yoong en Webber is bijna altijd constant, en zoals Driesco zegt is betrouwbaarheid belangrijker dan snelheid... conclusie: Yoong gaat de Masters of Speed winnen!! :-)

Ik ga met deze thread lekker door:

12) Hockenheim:
Mark Webber: 1'17"996
Alex Yoong: 1'19"775 -> DNQ

Na de vorige 2 DNQ's van Yoong, zei Paul Stoddart dat het voornamelijk aan de wagen lag + gebrek aan ervaring op deze circuits. Stoddart beweerde wel dat het de laatste keer zou zijn dat Yoong zich 'geoorloofd' niet zou kunnen kwalificeren.
Als Yoong het einde van het seizoen haalt is dit dus enkel doordat de sponsors (die idioten) nog eens hun geldbeugel opentrekken, want Alex is het zwaar aan het verknoeien.

We want Saelens dedzu !

Als je het mij vraagt is Stoddart veel te braaf als teambaas. De enige die hij tot nu toe heeft buitengetrapt was Tarso Marques, die het dan nog zelf voorstelde ook. Een beetje op z'n Walkinshaws zou hier niet misstaan. 12-0 voor Webber en 3-0 voor Alonso in de kwalificaties. 3 races dit seizoen niet gekwalificeerd. Minardi rijdt maar met 1 wagen, en dat is die van Mark Webber. Die andere wagen is louter publiciteitskaravaan.
Formule 1 is niet voor doetjes, maar voor kerels die willen bewijzen dat ze snel zijn en wereldkampioenambities hebben. Als je je 3 keer niet kan kwalificeren, hoor je niet bij de groep.

Als hij Yoong buitenzet risceert hij zijn hoofdsponsor te verliezen.

Maleisië is practisch eigenaar van Minardi. Minardi heeft net het geld van Prost GP gekregen en zit dus momenteel safe, maar als ze hun maleisische sponsors verliezen begint de show opnieuw.

en publicitair is al deze commotie ook niet slecht, lijkt me zo! maar dit zal binnen een aantal weken ook ambetant worden en als ze dan toch een nieuwe piloot binnenhalen wordt dat opnieuw extra publiciteit en dan kunnen die malaisiers toch niet zagen hé!

soit, saelens mag zich naar mijn gevoel beginnen opwarmen!

It was reported on Sunday that Yoong will consider his F1 future during the three-week summer break. He may decide to step down before the Hungarian Grand Prix on 18 August.

Yoong’s best F1 finish was seventh in the Australian Grand Prix at the start of the year – but even on that occasion he was three laps down on winner Michael Schumacher and one behind team-mate Webber.
