No offense guys!

Greetz

Quote:
Although McRae's deal has not yet been officially inked, Skoda team manager Joan Sureda says that an agreement to compete in Australia is nearly in place. McRae was keen to link a drive in Australia to a long-term deal with Skoda, but the team's parent company has yet to officially decide its plans for next year and a decision isn't expected until the run-up to the southern hemisphere event.

"We've almost reached an agreement with Colin," Sureda said. "He did a good job on Rally GB - not only in terms of helping the engineers with feedback on the car, but also from the point of view of media exposure. We'd be very pleased to see him back in the car. We'll hopefully have a long-term decision [on next year] before Australia."

Skoda is currently putting together a budget for next year for approval by its parent board. A possible tie-in with energy drink Red Bull's rally driver academy is apparently being mooted, thanks to links with current works driver Armin Schwarz, who is retiring at the end of this year.

Quote:
Schwarz - who won the European title with the works Toyota team in 1996 - has driven for most of the top works teams at some point in his career, with stints at Ford, Audi, Mitsubishi, Skoda and Hyundai. He has been linked with a possible role as team manager for a privateer Skoda outfit with Red Bull backing in 2006.

Quote:
Skoda rumours circulate

Skoda looks likely to be represented by at least one privateer team in the World Rally Championship next year as rumours about the Czech manufacturer's plans continue to circulate. Former works driver Armin Schwarz and privateer outfit RED Motorsport have been linked to separate bids to run Fabias at rallying's top level.

Although the works Skoda team's future remains unclear, pending budget decisions from its parent company's executive board, both Schwarz and RED Motorsport have been connected to deals to run cars in recent weeks.

Schwarz is understood to be courting backing from soft drinks firm Red Bull, with former Citroen driver Francois Duval being mooted as a possible driver, according to Autosport magazine. Privateer outfit RED Motorsport, which has a successful history in both the British national series and the WRC, has also been mooted as a possible outfit to run privateer Fabia WRCs in 2006.

Former world champion Colin McRae, who impressed in two one-off drives for Skoda this year, has been linked to both outfits. WRC commercial rights holder David Richards has said that he's keen to keep both the Scot and Skoda involved in the championship, citing the publicity raised by McRae on his Wales Rally GB and Telstra Rally Australia outings.

Quote:
With former driver Armin Schwarz linked to a plan to run a Skoda team backed by soft drink firm Red Bull, however, the Czech marque has been adapting its cars to the 2006 rules.

Although a number of drivers have been linked to this team, former Citroen driver Francois Duval and promising 21-year-old Group N driver Andreas Aigner are hotly tipped to take the two seats. Both the Belgian and the Austrian have sponsorship from Red Bull. The effort is expected to be run by former VW factory driver Raimund Baumschlager's Baumschlager Rallye Racing outfit and co-ordinated by Schwarz.

Kopecky is also believed to be close to sealing a deal to run one or two cars from his workshops in the Czech Republic, driving one himself.

Armin Schwarz has said that he will definitely not run his own team in the WRC in 2006.

Speaking at the Race of Champions over the weekend, the German told Crash.net though that he 'could be running something' - although he refused to elaborate further. WRC insiders had suggested that he would head up a privateer operation next season, running two Fabia WRCs possibly for Andreas Aigner and Francois Duval, with backing from Red Bull, should Skoda opt to withdraw from the sport.

"I am definitely not running my own team [next year]," he confirmed, "But I could be running something but I am not running my own team. I think you will hear something quite soon."
