Stand van zaken Super 2000 in rally
Hoe is eigenlijk de stand van zaken wat betreft S2000 in het WK rally?

Op pitstop.tv staat een artikel dat niet echt positief is wat betreft S2000 voor de nabije toekomst:

Zo zou een constructeur twee teams kunnen inschrijven die scoren voor het WK der merken en rijders hoeven niet meer de finish te halen om geklasseerd worden in de einduitslag. Ook JWRC zou hervormd worden. Van S2000 in WRC is voorlopig geen spoor.

In de voorstellen is nergens een spoor van S2000. Toch hebben enkele constructeurs (VW, Fiat, Toyota) al zo'n S2000 ontwikkeld.
In Europa zijn Renault (Dacia) en FIAT bezig met een S2000 wagen. De S2000 fabrikanten die in bovenstaande artikel genoemd worden (Toyota, VW) zijn meen ik vooral lokale projecten (Zuid-Afrika), waarvan sommige al weer beeindigd zijn (VW). Ik kan niet anders dan concluderen dat S2000 niet echt op gang komt en dat de huidige WRC fabrikanten niet echt staan de springen om over te stappen op S2000.

Wat zijn jullie gedachten hierover?

Het publiek zal nog steeds veel liever een dikke WRC zien voorbij rijden dan een twee wiel aangedreven 2liter...

In Ieper kwam deze zomer dan ook geen kat meer zien naar het EK S1600, daarentegen was er in 2002? (met het duel Campos - Thiry) een massa volk. Maar toen reden er ook WRC's mee...

De FIA zou gewoon de elektronica moeten beperken in de huidige WRC's, zo zal ook het WK rally goekoper worden denk ik.

Fiat is volop bezig aan de ontwikkeling van de Punto S2000 en de wagen is ondertussen al eens aan de tand gevoeld door McRae (eerder publicitaire stunt i.p.v. echte test). De wagen zal voorlopig deelnemen in PWRC tussen de groep N wagens (Mitsubishi en Subaru).

Ik denk dat S2000 nooit als technische reglement voor WRC wagens gebruikt zal worden, gewoon omdat de merken die nu actief zijn in rally hun investeringen willen beschermen. M-Sport is al een jaar bezig met de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe Focus, Prodrive heeft al een nieuwe Subaru Impreza ontwikkeld en Citroen heeft ook bevestigd dat ze volgend jaar de C4 WRC zullen ontwikkelen volgens het huidige reglement (turbomotor zonder waterinjectie en passieve differentielen).

Meestal zet m'n idd een show model op de salon's.

Ik weet het uiteraard niet zeker, maar ik denk wel dat dit een "echte" rally wagen was.

Aangezien er ook kooi en 2 sparco stoelen in staken, ook remschijven e.d. waren aanwezig. Ik heb al show wagens gezien die heel wat minder bevatten. (met ruiten voor 90% dicht geblindeerd en dan alles maar dan ook alles gestript binnen in. Van buiten was het dan de focus wrc van duval...)

Show ja! Ik herinner me nog een Fiat Coupé in WRC-trim, salon Turijn. Nooit meer wat van gehoord of gezien, maar wel foto's in alle boekskes en gazetjes. Gratis reclame dus. Marketing toch hé!

De Punto S2000 zal binnenkort voor het eerst aan een wedstrijd deelnemen.

These cars are admitted in class N4 in order to compete directly with Mitsubishi and Subaru Group N cars on WRC events and any rallies run to FIA rules, but this year drivers of these cars may not score P-WRC points.

Ik dacht eigenlijk dat VW (in Europa) alle autosport activiteiten, op Rally Raid na, beeindigd had.

We agree that it is impossible to build Super 2000 rally cars within that price limit. We are pleased that the formula has finally got officially off the ground, because at last people everywhere will be able to see what the formula is all about".

There was criticism that Fiat had paid insufficient respect to the spirit of the rules when choosing the specification of the design and was cavalier in their approach to the financial issues involved. Fiats made a slow start to the first rally in which they are allowed to compete under full FIA rules (the Ciocco Rally in Italy).

On the short opening stage held yesterday evening, Navarra was laying 7th and Andreucci 13th. Leading were the Mitsubishi group N cars of Cunico and Dallavilla, ahead of the Subarus of Aghini and Longhi. This Italian championship event finishes on Sunday. With the occasional exception of the Fiat Punto Super 1600, the Super 2000 car is the first really competitive rally car from Italy for over 10 years.
De Fiat lijkt trouwens de groep N wagens te kloppen in zijn eerste race.

BMW schijnt serieus na te denken over een S2000 rally-project. Volgens bepaalde bronnen moet het ombouwen van een S2000 WTCC E90/E46 naar rally-spec niet al teveel tijd en arbeid kosten. Bron? Autosport 20-04-06

naar verluidt is Andy Lefevere druk bezig een ex-wtcc om te bouwen naar een rallytuig. Maakt zich sterk dat ie (minstens) even snel zal zijn dan z'n 3.3 nu

Zou een S2000 op basis van de kleinere 120i ipv 320si niet logischer zijn? Dus bv de raceversie van de 120d ombouwen naar 4x4 en een benzine motor?
