Nieuw puntensysteem voor 2002

If the FIA World Council agrees, the points-scoring system in the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers will change for 2002, extending points down to 10th place, as it was until the World Rally Car era began in 1997.

Under the revised system, the traditional scale of 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 from first to 10th is expected to be re-introduced. It represents a victory for the less powerful teams, Hyundai and Skoda, who had expressed concern that they would be squeezed out of the points on all but a handful of occasions next year. Allowing manufacturers to count points scored by any two of three cars entered will encourage three-car entries in future, making life harder still for the lesser teams. Giving them something to show for finishing eighth or ninth is therefore a compromise.

Misschien zou men dit systeem ook beter bij de piloten toepassen?

Inderdaad, waarom dit puntensysteem ook niet voor piloten toepassen?
