Wederom een nieuwe europese NASCAR serie
Enkele paddockers hebben dat ding afgelopen donderdag op Circuit Zolder gezien. Toen wist nog niemand precies het hoe en wat.............

Heb het berichtje gevonden op het veronica forum:

Het gaat om een geheel nieuw ontwikkelde en zeer moderne auto, die in Nederland gewouwd gaat worden door Gerd Weyenberg. De auto is bedoeld voor een op het Amerikaanse NASCAR geinspireerde nieuwe raceserie die in 2004 het licht moet zien.

Het chassis van de nieuwe wagen wordt opgebouwd uit zeer hoogwaardig lichte stalen buis. Het geheel wordt afgewerkt met een uit delen bestaande kunststof body, voor de eerste wagens in de vorm van een Ford Mondeo. Raceklaar moet het geheel dan zo'n 850 kilogram gaan wegen. Met een tankinhoud van 58 liter moet er dan een maximale raceafstand van ongeveer 60 kilometer bereikt kunnen worden, zodat er geen pitstops nodig zijn, dit om de kosten te drukken. Voor de aandrijving is gekozen voor een licht getunede, 280 pk leverende 4 liter V6 Ford motor. met een Drenth recht-vertande klauw-geschakelde vier-versnellingsbak erachter. De wielophanging is geheel onafhankelijk. Voor de nieuwe raceserie worden motoren, versnellingsbak en motorelectronica verzegeld. Ook hiermee wil de organisatie de kosten in de hand houden. Het reglement geldt zeker voor 3 jaar en zal tussentijds niet aangepast worden.

De races kunnen zowel op kleine als grote ovals worden gereden, en ook gewone circuits in Nederland en daarbuiten. kunne worden aangedaan. Het raceseizoen zal bestaan uit minimaal acht wedstrijden. De serie moet een professionele uitstraling krijgen en zal volledige steun krijgen van de NASCAR organisatie uit America, die door middel van deze serie wedstrijden ook een grotere bekendheid wil krijgen in Europa. Op de officiele NASCAR website zal de Europese serie dan ook genoemd worden, terwijl NASCAR de Europese serie tevens wil ondersteunen in regelgeving, controle, promotie en sponsoring. De steun van NASCAR komt er niet in de laatste plaats omdat er met een Europese automobiel gereden wordt. NASCAR wil dat het model waarmee geraced wordt ook gewoon te koop is in het betreffende land. Zo wordt de ware betekenis van het woord "stockcar" kracht bijgezet; stockcar betekent immers niets anders dan "voorraad auto". magazine Start 84

Of het succes wordt? Geen idee......geloof dat ze het in Belgie proberen met de Camso V8

Hebben zometeen 6 wagens in Belgie rijden en in Nederland een stuk of 5. Waar ken ik dat toch van? Had iets formule renault te maken

Vergeet niet in België hebben we een oval. Dat hebben ze in Nederland niet, waar gaan ze dan rijden met hun NASCAR wagen ?

Meneertje ff opletten he..............we hebben lekker meer ovals dan in Belgie, lekker puh

Venray, Posterholt, Ter Apel en Lelystad zijn asfaltbanen. Dan zijn er nog 3 zand / klei ovals

Ben zelf een keertje in Venray geweest en het ziet er daar toch redelijk professioneel uit. Maar het echte amerikaanse ovalracen, volgens mij moeten de baantjes dan toch wat langer worden....

Er is een plan om vlak over de grens bij Venlo een full-style oval te bouwen, alleen heeft die projectontwikkelaar het nog steeds over Indycars

Niet echt hoor 1/4 mile is uitstekend voor late model types (zoals de camso) alleen een fatsoenlijke pitlane ontbreekt. En op zo een kort baantje is de banking wel weer nodig he. Dan krijg je de snelste van Europa die hebben wij dan weer

Idd Stijn. Ik hoorde het ook van iemand die er iets van afweet dat het de blauwe silhouette van verleden jaar betrof... (en de klank klonk al helemaal niet nascar-achtig, dat kan ik je verzekeren... )

Het grote verschil tussen deze wagen en de Procar silhouettes is dat de motor niet vanachter ligt.

Volgens mij begint depaddock zowat tot de betere nieuws sites te horen

In de testen op Zolder zou men zo rond de 1.40 gereden hebben......
