Debuut van de Lambo R-GT en de F 575...

In het persbericht van de FIA GT, dat deze avond werd verspreid, staat het volgende te lezen :

After an action packed race in Germany, FIA GT Championship heads for Estoril, the circuit which has hosted the final round during the last two years, where the Chrysler Viper, Ferrari, Lister and Saleen cars are due to be joined by two newcomers : the Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT and the Ferrari 575 Maranello.

Zo te zien laten ze er zowel bij Lamborghini als bij Ferrari geen gras over groeien, en nemen ze de laatste twee wedstrijden van dit seizoen er al bij, als voorbereiding op een volledig seizoen FIA GT in 2004 !

JMB Racing driver Fabio Babini is raving about the new Ferrari 575 GTC, which will make its FIA GT Championship debut in his hands at this weekend's penultimate round in Portugal.

JMB will field two of the Italian-built cars in each of the final two rounds of the 2003 series and Babini, who shares the #9 car with Austrian Philipp Peter, admits that he is already looking forward to the event.

"It is a completely new car, which has been developed in quite a short time, along with N.technology," the Italian revealed, "I have tested the car twice, and it will be interesting to see how it performs in race conditions.

"I really adore the car, it is really beautiful to look at - the lines, the headlamps, everything - it is a true racing car. It is lovely and it is fast! The Pirelli tyres are also very good, as the team has proved in the N-GT category.

"It will be excellent for JMB Racing if we can finish the season with some positive performances with the new car. Estoril will be a test for the new car, but it would be great to have a good race."

The second car will be driven by Christian Pescatori and Boris Derichebourg.
