Gran Premio di Cagliari

Binnen een jaar tijd is deze wedstrijd in Cagliari op het italiaanse eiland Sardinie uitgegroeid tot een klassieker. Tijdens de eerste editie in 2002 trok de wedstrijd 130.000 bezoekers !!!!

Tijdens de GP is er een mix te zien van EuroF3000, F3, FFord en Formule in de Gloria Plus DTM (Alesi) en Renault F1 demo's.

Oftewel in het rijtje Monaco, Pau, Macau en recentelijker de Korea F3 Super Prix is deze streerace in Cagliari een nieuw aanwinst.

Trouwens de F3000 race is morgen live te volgen op Rai 2.

Aan deze GP kleeft ook nog een Benelux tintje. Voor Belgie komt Maxime Hodencq (GP Racing) aan de start, binnen 1 seizoen van FRenault 1600 naar EuroF3000!! Voor Nederland komt de oer-hollandse naam Nicky Pastorelli ( Scuderia Famà ) aan de start. Pastorelli rijdt al het hele seizoen in de EuroF3000, voor Hodencq is het zijn tweede (?) start.

Dit jaar stelt het EuroF3000 niet zo heel voor, maar voor 2004 ziet het er veel beter uit. Beter dan voor het FIA F3000..........

Het Euro F3000 kampioenschap krijgt SUPERFUND als hoofdsponsor in 2004. Slecht nieuws voor Nissan World series??

Denk dat de Worldseries sterk genoeg zijn om het verlies van een (hoofd)sponsor te verwerken. Het is niet de eerste keer dat RPM dit meemaakt, twee jaar terug verloren ze "Fortuna" als sponsor.

Voor de EuroF3000 is een sponsor als Superfund zeer welkom, alhoewel hedgefunds als Superfund nog weleens willen "ploffen"........

Hodencq doet het zeer zeker niet slecht met zijn 8ste plaats, hij staat voor de amerikaanse Red Bull rijders Nelson en Boss. Grassotto (euro-FRenault 2000 kampioen in 2000(?) ) die ooit als zeer talentvol bestempeld werd staat pas op plaats 10.

Jaime Melo Junior emerged as the victor of the final round of the Euro3000 championship, which was restarted after series of spins at the first corner.

Newly crowned champion Augusto Farfus Junior, starting alongside Melo on the front row, outdragged the polesitter at the start, but spun at turn one. Behind him Jean de Pourtales, starting from fifth on the grid, also spun - the two cars blocking the track, bringing out the red flag.

Melo led Farfus from the restart, and never lost the lead. Siedler and Del Monte lay third and fourth; Behind them Pastorelli, Heidfeld and Grassotto battled closely for fifth position throughout the race.

On lap 47, Heidfeld made his move to pass Pastorelli, aiming to repeat his podium position from Jerez, but the cars touched and Heidfeld was forced into the pits with a broken nose.

His car repaired, he tried to make up the time he'd lost, but pushed too hard and crashed into the wall with three laps to go.

Melo crossed the line first, winning the race where he could only finish second last year.www.formula-3000.net
