Wales Rally GB - 6>9/11/2003 - zónder Burns én met Loix ?!

Richard Burns will miss this weekend's Wales Rally GB. The Peugeot driver was admitted to a hospital in Newport, south Wales, after feeling faint.

At team statement said:

"Richard Burns has been hospitalised yesterday evening, after fainting. Doctors will give an update today on their diagnosis and the seriousness of his state of health.

"From now on they have already declared that Richard Burns will not be authorized to recce and to enter the Wales Rally of Great Britain which will take place next weekend.

"The entire Peugeot Sport Team express its solidarity and wishes Richard a prompt recovery.

"Due to this case of force majeure, Peugeot Sport has asked FIA, on the basis of article 5.1.4 of the General Prescriptions and Article 2.3 of the Regulations of the World Rally Championship, to authorize the crew Freddy Loix – Sven Smeets to replace the crew Richard Burns – Robert Reid."

Burns was one of four drivers in the frame for the 2003 WRC title going into the rally, five points behind joint championship leaders Sebastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz of Citroen and four behind Subaru's Petter Solberg.

Vind het wel raar dat in de artikels gesproken wordt over "zijn gezondheidstoestand" maar nergens staat wat hem mankeert?

Staat op wrc iets dat Burns flauw gevallen is .... meer niet

Inderdaad al een mooie kans voor loix... maar ik vrees dat hij nog niet voluit zal kunnen gaan omdat hij de wagen nog niet kent...

we shall see...

Freddy Loix is vanmorgen al begonnen met de verkenningen voor de rally van GB, in afwachting van de definitieve goedkeuring dat hij de zieke Richard Burns bij Peugeot mag vervangen.

Burns, die gisteravond plotseling onwel is geworden, is intussen overgebracht van Newport naar Cardiff voor verder onderzoek. Er circuleren geruchten dat Burns in een coma zou liggen.
Loix nam zowiezo deel aan de verkenningen in Wales. De Limburger deed ook al de recce in Corsica en Cataluna in functie van 20

van de pitstop site

ik hoop dat da gerucht niet klopt ....

BURNS LATEST
We can confirm that Richard Burns was taken ill last night and is currently in hospital. His condition is not serious however doctors do want to carry out further tests. On the advice of doctors, Richard will not be taking part in this weekend's Rally Great Britain.

The entire Peugeot Sport Team expresses its solidarity and wishes Richard a prompt recovery.

Wow! Onverhoopt! Ik ben eens benieuwd wat de Belgen daar in het algemeen gaan doen!

Loix/Smeets => Peugeot 206 WRC
Duval/Prevot => Ford Focus WRC

Twee top-combinaties!

En ander leuk nieuws i.v.m de rally van Wales is dat Eurosport een special (aondag, 13:45) live uitzend en dus ook in belgië te volgen is !!

Zou de BBC ook nog live uitzenden ??

Vroeger deden ze dat wel, en grotendeels daardoor is mijn passie voor rally begonnen.

Ben ook blij dat Loix mag deelnemen, en ik verwacht toch veel van hem. Vooral omdat hij na zijn eerste tests zei dat de Peogeot toch heel wat anders is dan de Hyundai en de Mitsu...

En de Belgen hebben altijd al goed gepresteerd in de UK.

geen idee of de BBC live uitzendt... Ik hoop het eigevnlijk wel :-)

En over Loix, tja, Ik vind het heel goed voor hem en verwacht ook wel iets... Maar ook niet te veel... Hij heeft bijna nog niet met de wagen gereden en zeker niet op onverhard....
realistisch: ik hoop dat hij in de punten eindigt...

Ik verwacht er ook niet al teveel van, das het beste, anders zullen we mss ontgoocheld zijn Maar het zou heeeel sjiek zijn moest hij voor Rovanpera eindigen

Channel 4 heeft de uitzendrechten voor WRC in UK dus zullen we niet te veel mogen verwachten van de BBC, hoogstens dezelfde beelden van eurosport misschien???
