Vol huis op de 24u van Spa!
De Duitsers komen namelijk het veld aanvullen:
The FIA European Touring Car Championship and the DMSB Produktionswagen Meisterschaft will race together twice during the 2004 season. It was announced yesterday at the Essen Motor Show by the promoters of the two championships: Marcello Lotti (FIA ETCC) and Hans Niemann (DPWM). “I am particularly pleased, because this is the first fruit of our strategy to start a close cooperation with the promoters of the national Touring Car championships. A strategy that has been approved by the FIA Motor Sport World Council. I’m sure that we will enjoy mutual benefits from this cooperation, and that we will be in a position to offer huge starting grids to the fans,” Marcello Lotti commented. From 2004 onwards the German DPWM (formerly known as DTC), will open the door to the FIA Super 2000 cars, identical to those competing in the FIA ETCC. “BMW and Ford are supporting us, and we expect to have a field of about twenty cars, including a few of the current Super Productions,” explained Hans Niemann. Two rounds of the DPWM will be held within the LG Super Racing Weekend series, in Spa-Francorchamps (30th and 31st July) and in Oschersleben (18th and 19th September). On those occasions, the DPWM cars will compete in the same races as the FIA ETCC’s, adopting the same sporting regulations. However, because the two championships have different tyre suppliers, the ETCC competitors will not be eligible to score points for the DPWM and vice-versa.

ik al zoeken naar dpwm, kende het helemaal niet...
blijkt het dus gewoon het oude dtc te zijn. cool! een vol veld is altijd mooi megenomen. kunnen ze meteen zien wat een bandenoorlog de etcc kan aandoen.

Maar hoe die duitse serie gaat heten............dat wordt nog advokatenwerk.
Organisator ITR, met als "merknaam" DTM, is niet helemaal gelukkig met het DMSB Produktionswagen Meisterschaft. Als die als merknaam DPM gaan gebruiken (waar het naar uitziet) zijn de rapen gaar. Een gevechtje voor de rechtbank zou de heren van de DMSB niet slecht uitkomen, als het een persoorlog wordt is het een boel gratis publiciteit
