US GP gaat wel door !!

United States Grand Prix will go ahead

Governing body and track both confirm Indy is business as usual

The United States Grand Prix will go ahead as scheduled on September 30. FIA president Max Mosley and Indianapolis Motor Speedway boss Tony George have both confirmed the race will run, despite this week's terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

"We do not expect any change from the announced schedule," said George on Wednesday, echoing the view earlier expressed by Mosley.

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone also believes the Indianapolis race will take place, saying: "We anticipate future events, including the US Grand Prix, will go ahead as scheduled."

With air travel still badly disrupted after the atrocities committed on Tuesday, doubts had been raised over whether the freighting of cars and equipment would be possible. However, the main freight movements are likely to happen over the course of next weekend (September 22-23), when normal services are expected to have resumed.
