Preview : Rolex 24 hours at DAYTONA
Binnenkort staat deze eerste "endurance" afspraak van het jaar op de kalender. Benieuwd of de Daytona Prototypes deze keer beter gewapend zullen zijn tegen de GT en GTS wagens.
Bij Crawfort wordt in ieder geval melding gemaakt van een top-team : Andy Wallace zal bijgestaan worden door NASCAR piloten Tony Stewart en Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Denk het wel, vanuit de organisatie zijn er een aantal dingetjes veranderd in het technisch reglement zodat een "Porsche Sieg" tot een minimum wordt beperkt.

De nieuwe RSR wordt niet toegelaten, de R en de RS mogen wel meedoen............alleen is de tankinhoud drastisch kleiner t.o.v. 2003.

Vorig was het eerste jaar voor de DP-categorie, dacht dat er een stuk of 6 effectief hebbben deelgenomen. Dit jaar 17 op de inschrijvingslijst !!

In 2004 zien we ook het debuut van Arie Luyendyk Jnr. in de Endurance racerij, eens kijken of net als zijn pa de 24 uur kan winnen.

Zo te zien is Didier Theys (n° 27 - Lexus Doran) de enige landgenoot aan de start.
Alhoewel, als je de Amerikanen moet geloven is ook Sascha Maassen (n° 58 - Red Bull Porsche) een Belg.

De BRUMOS wagens mogen echt bij de favirieten gerekend worden.
Verder ook de n° 01 met Scott Pruett en de 10 van Wayne Taylor.
Maar de grootste favoriet van de Amerikanen moet wel de n°2 van Earnhardt/Stewart/Wallace zijn (2 NASCAR mannen samen met "Andy" : moet vuurwerk geven!)

Ik ben het eens eens met Andy. Wel hopen dat die twee good old boys niet vergeten af te draaien naar het infield.

Veel sneller zijn ze niet geworden, er zit maar 6 sec. tussen de snelste DP-wagen en de snelste GT3-RS (die ietwat gepest worden door het reglement)

De formule slaat toch wel aan blijkbaar. Tijdens de tests 17 DP's aanwezig. Die Maserati Trofeo vind ik ook wel knap: spoiler à la 360 N-GT
